Why Should I use a Lotion Bar?

bullet
Well first of all, it's an all-natural product. Commercial lotions are NOT.  Our lotion bars only contain the ingredients that they need—not the extra preservatives that liquid lotions require for their shelf life.  Lotions have a very high water content.   Once water is added to make a lotion, it is almost impossible to create an all natural product and still keep the bacteria and mold out.  That is why I make solid lotion bars--no need for chemical preservatives.

Have you ever noticed that when you use your body lotion your skin never stays moist and you find yourself going back to the lotion bottle over and over?  Look at the ingredients in your lotion and see if your lotion contains isopropyl alcohol and/or mineral oil.  Both of these actually are very drying to your skin.  The alcohol gives a temporary sense of coolness due to evaporation. Mineral oil is found in lotions, soaps, baby oil, cosmetics, and motor oil.  Mineral oil is a clear, liquid oil with no scent and will not spoil.  It is very inexpensive because it is produced as a byproduct of the distillation of gasoline from crude oil.  It is great for oiling your wooden cutting boards--but not your skin.  Mineral oil does not penetrate to soften.  It is difficult to absorb, coats your skin, and clogs the pores.  If you would like to have healthy skin, stay away from mineral oils, animal fat, petroleum, and synthetic oil based skincare.  Lab created oils clog pores, aggravate acne, trigger allergic reactions, and make skin feels heavy and greasy.  Remember, the skin is the body's largest organ and it needs to breathe as part of its important role in maintaining overall health!  Also, the high water content of liquidy lotions can further dry and irritate the skin as evaporation takes place.

What Is an All Natural Lotion Bar?

bullet

A Lotion Bar is NOT a soap.  It is hand and body lotion in it's pure form.  A lotion bar is not truly a lotion because it does not contain water.  No water added means no preservatives needed.  Moisturizing plant oils and exotic butters are combined in a unique formula that is solid at room temperature, but they melt at skin temperature-like a lip balm.  When you rub the bar between your hands, your body temperature melts a small amount and the natural plant oils are quickly absorbed to leave your skin feeling soft and silky.  The result is wonderfully soft feeling skin without the wet-stickiness you are used to with traditional lotions.  The lotion bars have been formulated to be moisturizing without feeling greasy.

Although they look small, a little goes a long way with this moisture rich formula.

How Do I use a Lotion Bar?

bullet

Use lotion bars as you would any lotion - they are just solid, not liquid.  To use, hold the bar between your hands just until it begins to soften to the touch.   Massage the lotion bar onto your hands for a few seconds, and let the wonderful oils soak in.  Your hands will feel so good!  When you use your lotion bar for the first time you might think your hands feel oily--please wait a minute or two.  All of the oils will quickly absorb into your skin--for the softest skin ever.  Lotion bars are made with natural oils that will not simply grease and coat the surface of your skin.

To use on other body parts simply warm the lotion bar between your palms to transfer some of the oils and butters to your palms.  Massage your skin with your oil infused palms to soothe and moisturize.  You can also cup the bar in your palm and apply directly to skin. The warmth from your body will slowly melt the bar to moisturize and soothe your skin.

We recommend lotion bars for hands, elbows, heels, arms, and freshly shaved legs.

Lotion bars are particularly nice in the winter time when we all suffer with skin that takes a real beating by drying out.  Keep a lotion bar near your bath or shower.  Rub the lotion bar directly on your body while it is still warm and damp after getting out of the shower or bath and watch itchy skin disappear.

Keep a lotion bar by the sink to keep "hands that do work" soft and silky.

In the summer lotion bars are wonderful for rehydrating skin that has been over exposed to the sun.

Cut off a sliver of your natural lotion bar and let melt in hot bath water instead of using synthetic bath oils.

The scent of the Hemp Mango Mint bar may help relieve stuffiness from colds, allergies, or dry winter air.  Place a dab under your nose or add to your bath.

Use scented bars wrapped in tissue paper (remember they are oil) as drawer sachets until ready to use.

Remember, this is a handmade, natural, preservative free product with a shelf life of approximately 1 year.

Be sure not to leave in direct sunlight.   Store in a cool place to prolong shelf-life.

Beauty Secret Cocoa Butter Dry Ends Cream
Although nothing mends split ends once they form, use our Three Butter Lotion Bar to temporarily seal split ends and discourage hair from splitting further.   To use, rub a small amount of the lotion bar between the fingertips and apply sparingly to dry ends between shampoos.

PLEASE NOTE:  On warm sunny days please keep your Body Butter Lotion Bar
out of direct sunlight or heat.  Remember lotion bars are made
to "melt" at external body temperature.
If your lotion bar softens or melts, place it in the refrigerator until it becomes firm.
This does not harm the product or its effectiveness!
Solid Lotion Bars purchased during hot weather may melt during shipping.
